Vintage 9-Patch Quilt TOP

DETAILS

This is a cotton quilt top that was most likely made in the mid-1900s. The colors are cheerful and bright. The prints contain wonderful florals, plaids, and stripes. The pattern is known as ‘Nine Patch.’

There is a handful of feed sack fabrics. The stamps can still be seen on the fabric! Additionally, the tell-tale sign of a thicker seam that was pulled out indicates feed sack fabric. One stamp reads ‘Somerset, KY.’ There are a few thicker fabrics mixed in to this top.

This quilt top measures approximately 69 x 82 inches. Each block measures about 2.75 x 2.75 inches. It is an unfinished quilt and naturally contains raw edges. It has been completely pieced by hand in red thread.

CONDITION

This quilt top is in good vintage condition. There are several small marks and snags on the quilt top. The edges are raw and fraying. Many loose threads are present on the quilt top but all seams appear to be intact. The piecing is a bit wonky in areas. You can see the squares and sashing are not perfectly aligned. This quilt top is a wonderful piece to study, display, or repurpose!

This is a quilt top only and NOT a finished quilt. It would be a great piece to study or display!

Each quilt is carefully wrapped and shipped in a box. For sustainability, we do reuse boxes when possible.
