Full Description

This antique quilt sourced from North Carolina was hand pieced in a ‘Prairie Star’ block with a wonderful teal and cheddar sashing. The blocks were set on-point which created a dynamic visual affect. A few areas of the sashing are a vibrant green which may be a fugitive dye that has been surprisingly well-preserved!

Each star contains a unique set of antique calico fabrics. If you are a fabric enthusiast, this quilt is for you! Many 1800s prints are included in this quilt! It is full of rare and stunning calicos.

The hand quilting was done in white thread. The maker switched thread color for the sashing and alternated between tan and blue.

This quilt is a generous size and measures 77.5 x 100 inches. It is a light-weight quilt with cotton batting and a cream backing.

This quilt is in good-to-fair antique condition. There are a few holes through the quilt with the binding missing in a few sections. The brown matter dye has transferred to the white fabric in a few areas. There is dye rot present in many of the old fabrics. The back has many stains present. This is a wonderful piece of early American textile art. Considering this is well over 100 years, it is still in good shape!

Please note, every attempt is taken to detail imperfections in photos, descriptions, and video. The nature of this item does lend itself to normal age-related issues and must be taken into consideration before purchasing.

This quilt will be sold as-is. Machine washing is not recommended.
