1800’s Ohio Star Quilt

For the antique fabric lovers, this quilt is for you! There are so many rare and amazing old calico fabrics pieced into this quilt. It would be a great piece to study. The double pink calico anchors the quilt. The sashing in a scrappy combination of a several homespun fabrics and early block printed calicos.

The quilting lines run diagonally through the quilt. The stitches measure about 7 SPI (stitches per inch). The diagonal lines are only ½ inch apart which adds so much texture to the quilt!

This quilt measures 63 x 76 inches. It is a light-weight quilt with cotton batting and a cream cotton backing.

CONDITION

This quilt is in great antique condition! There is fabric wear along all four edges. A machine stitch was added to the binding at a later date with the intent of preserving the fabric. There is some dye rot present and a few seam separations. The backing has toasting throughout with a few small marks. Considering this quilt is from the late 1800s, it is in wonderful antique condition!
